Is there too many comic books doing the "special" cover, or cover 1 of 300? Why does the comic ind. do this?

I cant collect like I used to be able to, but my friend keeps me updated, and hes always telling me about all these different covers coming out. Like Michael Turner does all these covers for Supes, F.F., Batman, Spidey,…. you name it, hes done it. WHAT IS UP?

The answer is simple. There are people out there who try to collect every issue of a comic book. In an attempt to make more money, the comic book industry puts out multiple versions of various issues to boost their sales. Believe it or not, there are actually people who buy multiple issues of a comic just to have it in their collection.
